Expanded Constituency Workshops (ECW) bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main conventions (biodiversity, desertification, climate change and persistent organic pollutants), representatives from civil society and representatives from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Agencies, to discuss priority issues, lessons learned and experiences from the development and implementation of GEF projects and their integration within national policy frameworks. Countries eligible to participate in this Expanded Constituency Workshop for include Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela.

24 December 2012: Supported by the World Bank, the 9th annual South Asia Economic Students Meet (SAESM), held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 18-22 December 2012, provided a cross-cultural platform for future Asian leaders to exchange innovative ideas on environmental challenges. Under the theme "Towards a Green South Asia," the goal was to engage youth from rising South Asian economies on environmental solutions, while encouraging regional cooperation.

The 37th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 37) will consider for approval two methodology reports: the "2013 Supplement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories: Wetlands”; and the good practice guidance on estimating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) under the Kyoto Protocol.
