Philippines National Budget "Tags" Climate Change Response Funds [viewed]

World Bank-Philippines24 October 2014: In the Philippines, 53 national agencies have begun the process of "tagging" proposed climate change funding in their 2015 national budget submissions. With over 5% of the total tagged as climate change expenditures, the system intends to make the tracking, strategy and prioritization of the national response to climate change more transparent.

Adaptation Fund Board Approves Six Projects Totaling US$33 Million [viewed]

Adaptation Fund10 October 2014: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has announced it will fund six climate resilience projects, in Costa Rica, India, Kenya and South Africa. The decision represents a doubling in the direct access finance provided by the Fund. In addition, the Board approved almost US$150,000 in South-South grants to provide training on the Fund's accreditation process so that more countries will be able to take advantage of direct access finance.

Event: Third Forest Legislation Summit [viewed]

The Global Legislators Organisation (GLOBE International) is organizing the Third Forest Legislation Summit on the sidelines of the 20th session of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP 20). Legislators from over 20 countries are expected to participate in the Summit, which will feature side events on climate legislation, natural capital and the progress achieved in 2014. In conjunction with the Summit, GLOBE is convening ministerial meetings with key countries for legislators.

CBFP Partners Meeting Calls for Expansion of Focus Beyond Tropical Forests [viewed]

cbfp22 October 2014: The Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP) convened a partners meeting to discuss climate change adaptation and mitigation in Central Africa. The meeting focused mostly on REDD+, community forestry, agriculture and climate change, impacts of climate change on mangroves, and mitigation in arid areas, with participants concluding that while significant attention has been paid to REDD+ in Central Africa, the discourse needs to be expanded to include other ecosystems beyond tropical forests.
