Event: GEF Expanded Constituency Workshop for Central America, Mexico and Venezuela [viewed]
Expanded Constituency Workshops (ECW) bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main conventions (biodiversity, desertification, climate change and persistent organic pollutants), representatives from civil society and representatives from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Agencies, to discuss priority issues, lessons learned and experiences from the development and implementation of GEF projects and their integration within national policy frameworks. Countries eligible to participate in this Expanded Constituency Workshop for include Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela.
December 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released the 2012 volume of Unasylva on the theme "The power of forests." The report highlights outputs from the FAO Global Forest Resource Assessment and examines forest issues in the wake of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
11 January 2013: The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) have reported on the implementation of Mozambique's US$100 million strategic programme for climate resilience, which was endorsed in June 2011 by the CIF through its Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) window.
10 January 2013: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), which is administered by the World Bank, has received three separate financial contributions from Finland, Germany and Norway, totalling approximately US$180 million. 
9 January 2012: The Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) of the World Bank has published a report, titled "Commercial Woodfuel Production: Experience from Three Locally Controlled Wood Production Models," as part of its Knowledge Series. 
January 2013: The Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published the third review of Mexico's environmental performance, including on progress toward a green, low-carbon economy. The Environmental Performance Review (EPR) presents 29 recommendations for achieving the "right mix of policies" to meet Mexico's environmental policy objectives.
7 January 2013: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is calling for experts to review the first order draft of its supplementary guidance on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals from land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) for reporting under the Kyoto Protocol.
24 December 2012: Supported by the World Bank, the 9th annual South Asia Economic Students Meet (SAESM), held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 18-22 December 2012, provided a cross-cultural platform for future Asian leaders to exchange innovative ideas on environmental challenges. Under the theme "Towards a Green South Asia," the goal was to engage youth from rising South Asian economies on environmental solutions, while encouraging regional cooperation.
21 December 2012: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has released the first Environmental Performance Review (EPR) of Turkmenistan, which highlights several environmental issues as particular challenges, including: salinization of irrigated lands; water management; desertification; and biodiversity loss.
