30 November 2009: The 12th EU-China Summit, held on 30 November 2009, in Nanjing, China, was dominated by discussions on climate change negotiations and cooperation. During the Summit, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao reiterated his country's commitment to reducing carbon dioxide intensity in the economy by 40 to 50% by the year 2020, stressing that China is still a developing country at a sensitive stage in its industrial development, and that its per capita emissions are still below that of developed countries.
