Event: Initial Discussions on Zero Draft of UNCSD Outcome Document [viewed]

The initial discussions on the "zero draft" of the Outcome Document for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) will take place from 25-27 January 2012, based on a decision taken by the UNCSD Bureau at its meeting on 22 December 2011. The zero draft will be based on a compilation of the input received by the UNCSD Secretariat from member States and other stakeholders by 1 November 2011.

Event: Liaison Group on Climate-related Geo-engineering as it Relates to the CBD [viewed]

The liaison group is tasked with: developing proposals on definitions for climate-related geo-engineering; informing parties of the known and expected impacts (positive, negative and neutral) of geo-engineering on biodiversity and associated social, economic and cultural considerations; and providing advice to parties on assessing the potential and unknown impacts of geo-engineering on biodiversity and associated social, economic and cultural considerations. The Liaison Group will produce a document for consideration by SBSTTA at its 16th meeting.

OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2011-202017 June 2011: The Agricultural Outlook 2011-2020, produced jointly by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), predicts that prices for agricultural commodities will fall in the short run but increase over the next decade to average 20-30% higher in real terms than over the 2001-2010 period.
