In preparation for two bioenergy reports in its Technology Roadmap series, the International Energy Agency (IEA) is holding a workshop on bioenergy and biofuels feedstocks relating specifically to biomass and land availability, international biomass trade, supply costs and sustainability-related topics. The workshop's sessions will focus, inter alia, on assessing biomass potential and identifying knowledge gaps, identifying steps necessary to ensure sustainability of supply, and furthering public-private-partnerships and international cooperation on ensuring sustainable production.
The International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) are hosting the 10th Annual Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading. The workshop will focus on issues relating to the future of carbon markets, including new and scaled up market mechanisms, oversight, regional issues, and accounting.
1 July 2010: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published the 2010 edition of its series “Energy Technology Perspectives,” which aims to inform decision makers on the technological actions necessary to realize the energy revolution IEA says is necessary to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 50% by 2050 (compared to 2005 levels).
1 July 2010: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a working paper titled “Renewables in Southeast Asian Countries: Trends and Potentials,” which provides an analysis of the constraints and opportunities to scaling up renewable energy use in the electricity, heating and transport sectors of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
1 July 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has released a report titled "Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with equality in Latin America and the Caribbean. Progress and challenges."
June 2010: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has released a forestry paper titled "Impact of the global forest industry on atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs)," which traces the value chain of forest products (roundwood, processed wood products, and pulp and paper) and calculates a net contribution of 467 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year from the forest product chain.

29 June 2010: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved an Interational Development Assistance (IDA) credit of US$180 million equivalent for a project aimed at establishing a sustainable programme for expanding access to electricity and improving the quality and adequacy of the electricity supply in Ethiopia.
