Campaign to Align Corporate Emission Reduction Targets with 2°C Goal [viewed]

science_based_targets20 May 2015: The Science Based Targets initiative has launched a global campaign to recruit 100 companies by the end of 2015 to set emission reduction targets in line with climate science. While 80% of the world's 500 largest companies are setting such targets, only the most proactive companies are doing so at the level required to meet the internationally agreed goal of limiting global temperature rise to 2°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.

Subnational Governments Sign Under2 MOU [viewed]

The 12 signatories include: California, Oregon, Vermont and Washington, in the US; Acre, Brazil; Baden-Württemberg, Germany; Baja California and Jalisco in Mexico; Catalonia, Spain; Ontario and British Columbia in Canada; and Wales, UK.

IMO15 May 2015: The 68th Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted the environmental part of the Polar Code, which is the international code of safety for ships operating in waters surrounding the Earth's poles. MEPC also adopted the relevant amendments under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) to make the Code mandatory.

Canada Submits INDC [viewed]

CANADA Flag15 May 2015: The Government of Canada has submitted its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC) to the UNFCCC Secretariat. Canada intends to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions economy-wide by 30% below 2005 levels by 2030. Canada is the 38th party to formally submit an INDC.
