World Bank Releases Report on Mitigating Climate Change through Wetlands Restoration [viewed]

March 2011: The World Bank has released a report titled "Mitigating Climate Change through Restoration and Management of Coastal Wetlands and Near-shore Marine Ecosystems," which finds that drainage and degradation of coastal wetlands emit significant amounts of carbon dioxide directly into the atmosphere and lead to decreased carbon sequestration.

8 April 2011: The World Bank Institute and Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) have published a training manual that shares hands-on experience from field programmes and presents the essential practical and theoretical steps, methods and tools to estimate the opportunity costs of reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation  in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks (REDD+).

8 April 2011: The European Commission has released a staff working document on "Scaling up international climate finance after 2012," confirming that raising US$100 billion per year by 2020 is "challenging but feasible" with the right mix of public funding, funding from international carbon markets, as well as private funds, partly leveraged by development banks.
