World Bank Outlines Brazil's Opportunities for Low-Carbon Growth [viewed]

17 June 2010: The World Bank has released a study titled "Brazil Low-Carbon Country Case Study," which finds that this country could reduce its gross greenhouse gas (GHG)  emissions by up to 37% between 2010 and 2030, while maintaining the development goals set out by the government for that period, and without negatively affecting growth or jobs.

IEA and CSLF Release CCS Report [viewed]

14 June 2010: In preparation for the G8 Summit to be held in Muskoka, Canada, on 25-26 June 2010, the International Energy Agency (IEA) together with the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) have published a report titled “Carbon Capture and Storage: Progress and Next Steps.” The report follows up on the IEA's mandate from the 2005 G8 summit in Gleneagles to explore short term opportunities in carbon capture and storage (CCS).

Event: ECLAC Roundtable on Impacts of Climate Change on Adaptive Policy in the Caribbean [viewed]

The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) subregional headquarters for the Caribbean will be hosting a roundtable to discuss the impacts of climate change on adaptive policy in the Caribbean. The meeting will consider initiatives on climatic modeling that have already been conducted in the subregion and discuss the new initiative titled “Understanding potential economic impacts of climate change in LAC.”

UNECE Organizes Energy and Climate Meetings [viewed]

11 June 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has hosted a series of energy and climate meetings at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The first meeting of the Group of Experts of the Global Energy Efficiency 21 (GEE21) Project convened on 10 June 2010. It was preceded by the 15th Session of the Ad Hoc Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency Investments for Climate Change Mitigation, on 9 June 2010, and followed by the 21th Session of the Steering Committee of the GEE21 Project, on 11 June.

Event: Financing Low-Carbon Growth [viewed]

UNEP FI, through its Climate Change Working Group and Asia Pacific Task Force will convene, in partnership with Cambridge University's P8 Group of institutional investors, the first of series of regional Summits on 'Financing Low-Carbon Growth' in Seoul, Republic of Korea. This Summit will bring together senior leaders from the asset management, infrastructure finance and development banking fields from the Republic of Korea, across Asia, and the world, to discuss investment opportunities in tackling climate change.
