Nordic Council Adopts Nidaros Declaration on Food Production and Green Growth [viewed]

28 June 2012: The Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MR-FJLS) has adopted the Nidaros Declaration, highlighting the role of primary food production and processing industries in green growth, and calling for increased sustainability and competitive production in the sector.

Event: UNFCCC Workshop on Long-Term Finance [viewed]

The first workshop on long-term finance will take place from 9-11 July in Bonn, Germany, and will facilitate technical and analytical discussions on scaling up the mobilization of climate change finance after 2012. This workshop is part of the work programme on long-term finance and is one of two workshops which will be held in 2012.

Event: 43rd Meeting of the GEF Council [viewed]

The Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Council meets twice per year to approve new projects with global environmental benefits in the GEF's focal areas, and provide guidance to the GEF Secretariat and Agencies. In addition to the 43rd meeting of the GEF Council, from 13-15 November, a consultation with NGOs will take place on 12 November and the 13th meeting of the LDCF/SCCF Council will convene on 15 November.

Event: GEF 44th Council Meeting [viewed]

The Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Council meets twice per year to approve new projects with global environmental benefits in the GEF's focal areas, and provide guidance to the GEF Secretariat and Agencies. Among other matters, the 44th session of the Council is expected to discuss the GEF's role vis-à-vis the global mercury agreement. A consulation with CSOs will take place on 17 June.

UNCCD Calls for Expressions of Interest for Lead Institution/Consortium to Organize 3rd Scientific Conference [viewed]

UN Secretary-General Issues Reports for ECOSOC Substantive Session [viewed]

May 2012: The UN has circulated reports of the Secretary-General for the upcoming substantive session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The reports address macroeconomic policies for sustainable development and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and productive capacity, employment and decent work to eradicate poverty in the context of inclusive, sustainable and equitable economic growth.

Event: Infrastructure for Climate Change: The Challenge of Constructing Infrastructure Systems for a New Environmental Reality [viewed]

This one-day meeting, sponsored by the Latin American Development Bank (CAF) and organized by CAF and the Colombian Government, will bring together government representatives from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela, representatives from various regional and international organizations, as well as experts from Asia, the US, Latin America and Europe to discuss the challenges posed by climate change and extreme weather events to Latin American water, energy, transport, housing and health infrastructure. The meeting also will launch a "Center of thought on Infrastructure for Climate Change" to act as a permanent high-level consultative center composed of national and international experts, devoted to the issue of making Latin American infrastructure climate-resilient.
