March 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat is organizing a Technical Workshop on Integrating Practices, Tools and Systems for Climate Risk Assessment and Management and Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies into National Policies and Programmes from 10-12 March 2009, in Havana, Cuba.

3 March 2009: The Workshop on Climate and Disaster Resilience in Coastal Asian Cities convened in Da Nang, Vietnam, from 18-20 February 2009. The workshop was organized by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) through the CIFAL Kuala Lumpur, CityNet and the Kyoto University, in cooperation with Veolia Environment and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction.

9 February 2009: In a speech given at the opening of the Fifth General Meeting of the UN and Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) and its Associated Institutions, taking place in New York, US, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed the need for the two institutions to step up their collaboration in the face of multiple global crises.
