An Awareness Campaign about Climate Change 9 November 2008: The Fifth International Weather Forum took

place from 6-9 November 2008, in Brussels, Belgium. The event was co-sponsored

by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the European Community,

MeteoFrance and other organizations. It brought together meteorologists,

experts in climate, journalists, weather presenters and broadcasters from all

over the world to discuss climate change and ways to better inform the public.

Children take to the canvas to advocate for climate change in UN campaign 26 October 2008: The UN kicked off its “UNite to Combat

Climate Change” campaign on 23 October 2008, with the “Paint for the Planet”

art exhibition. The exhibition was followed on 25 October 2008 by an auction

that raised US$21,000, which will be donated to children affected by

climate-related disasters.

World Bank: Forest Carbon Partnership Facility Participants List Grows [viewed]

High Demand Prompts Forest Carbon Partnership Facility to Expand Beyond Original 20 Developing Countries 24 October 2008: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility

(FCPF), a World Bank programme that partners developing countries with

industrialized countries and The Nature Conservancy, a non-governmental

organization, in an effort to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest

degradation (REDD) in developing countries, convened its first operational

meeting from 20-22 October 2008, in Washington, DC, US. During the meeting, it

was decided that the programme should be expanded and that ten new developing

countries would be added to the 20 that had originally been selected.
