Event: UNITAR/WTI Course on Trade and Climate Change [viewed]

The course, organized by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the World Trade Institute (WTI), aims to explore key legal and economic issues arising from the climate change debate, including the relationship between the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) that address climate change, particularly regarding the legality of domestic and international trade measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. UNDP Releases Third Adaptation Newsletter [viewed]

24 May 2010: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released the third issue of its Climate Change Adaptation Bulletin. The newsletter features articles on: support to 22 least developed countries (LDCs); the Africa Adaptation Programme, financed by the Government of Japan and implemented in 20 countries; and country updates on the preparation and implementation of National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPAs) with preparatory work expected to start in Ethiopia, Mozambique, Chad and Togo.

Event: Intergovernmental Preparatory Meeting for CSD 19 [viewed]

The Intergovernmental Preparatory Meeting (IPM) will prepare for the policy-year session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), which will negotiate policy options related to the thematic cluster for the CSD 18-19 cycle: transport, chemicals, waste management, mining and the Ten-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns. The IPM will include a SIDS Special Day, consisting of interactive discussions to outline innovative policy options to support the sustainable development of SIDS, and addressing viable solutions for reducing the vulnerabilities of SIDS and for strengthening the sustainable management of chemicals, waste (hazardous and solid), mining and transport, and implementing sustainable consumption and production (SCP).
