Event: Fourth UN International UN-SPIDER Bonn Workshop on Disaster Management and Space Technology [viewed]

The UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), through its UN-SPIDER Programme (UN Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response), together with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are organizing this workshop to promote the access and use of space-based technologies and solutions for disaster management and emergency response within relevant communities. Event: Climate Change Awareness Policy for Public Broadcasting [viewed]

This training meeting is organized by the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) and it encompasses climate change journalism, broadcaster responsibility, programme evaluation and agreement on a universal template for internal broadcasting policy for 10 broadcasters. This training workshop is sponsored by the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), a multilateral forum in the UN system that seeks to mobilize the international community to discuss and promote media development in developing countries.

Event: UNITAR Workshop on Environmental Negotiations and Climate Change Diplomacy [viewed]

UNDP Finalizes Project to Protect Mountain Forests in Tanzania [viewed]

20 July 2010: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Tanzania have successfully concluded a seven-year project, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), aimed to protect the biodiversity of forestland of the Eastern Arc reserve in Tanzania, 70% of which had been destroyed due to crop shifting and timber harvesting.
