CGRFA 13 Adopts Elements for a Roadmap on Climate Change and Genetic Resources [viewed]

22 July 2011: The 13th regular session of the Commission on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA) of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has agreed on a list of elements for a roadmap or work programme to take action on the roles and values of genetic resources for food and agriculture (GRFA) in terms of achieving food and nutritional security and enabling countries to plan and implement adaptation and mitigation strategies in the context of climate change and anticipated impacts of climate change on food and agricultural production now and in the future.

World Bank Approves GEF Project on REDD+ in the Congo Basin [viewed]

World Bank14 July 2011: The World Bank approved a US$13 million project from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to strengthen the capacities of the Congo Basin countries on issues related to REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stock) and forest carbon stocks measurements.

UN CC:Learn Considers Selection of Countries for Pilot Projects [viewed]

8 July 2011: The Steering Group of the One UN Training Service Platform for Climate Change (UN CC:Learn) recently selected three countries from among the 25 countries that expressed an interest in the UN CC:Learn's Pilot Projects to Strengthen Human Resources, Learning and Skills Development to Address Climate Change, which aim to help countries take a strategic, long-term and results-oriented approach to climate change learning. UNESCO to Launch Course on Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development [viewed]

20 July 2011: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will launch a Teacher Education Course on Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development (CCESD) in late 2011. The course is being developed for UNESCO by professors at Sustainability Frontiers, an international alliance of sustainability and global educators.
