Event: CLIMALPTOUR-Climate Change and its Impact on Tourism in the Alpine Space [viewed]

This conference will provide an overview of the CLIMALPTOUR Project, which aims to make Alpine centers an interesting destination in all seasons and to increase their potential even if snow is lacking. Project partners, which include the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), are working together to find out concrete adaptation strategies that can be used by civil services and stakeholders to face this new situation and go beyond the traditional vision of winter sports.

Event: World Habitat Day 2011: Cities and Climate Change [viewed]

World Habitat Day focuses on the state of cities and the basic right to adequate shelter. This year's theme emphasizes that climate change is a preeminent development challenge of the 21st century and that cities will bear the greatest impacts of disasters resulting from climate impact. The theme for the day also recognizes that cities have a great influence on climate change. The Global Celebration of the day will be organized by the Government of Mexico.

UNDP Launches Guidebook on Designing National Climate Financing Mechanisms [viewed]

Blending Climate Finance through National Climate Funds14 September 2011: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has launched report that provides a step-by-step guide to developing countries in setting up national climate funds and in making informed decisions on climate financing options. The guidebook, “Blending Climate Finance through National Climate Funds: A Guidebook for the Design and Establishment of National Funds to Achieve Climate Change Priorities,” is based on UNDP's experience with 750 funds comprising over US$5 billion in resources from various donors.

Event: CLEAN-Linking Open Data Webinar [viewed]

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) and the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) are holding a webinar for climate-related database and portal managers on the use and benefits of Linked Open Data (LOD) to integrate web resources. This would enable more efficient sharing and leveraging of online resources, reduction of duplicated efforts, and general improved catalyzation towards low carbon development. The webinar will introduce the context of LOD and its uses, followed by a presentation of LOD in practice, and a discussion over use of linked open data. SPC Announces New Office in Tonga [viewed]
