ILO, UNFCCC Argue Planet's De-carbonization Can Create Green Jobs [viewed]

unfccc-ilo22 September 2014: Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Guy Ryder, and Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Christiana Figueres, have published an op-ed, titled 'Cleaner, Greener and Richer,' arguing that the UN Secretary-General's Climate Summit in New York and the UNFCCC session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to be held in Paris in 2015 can deliver a more prosperous world that provides millions of decent work opportunities. Equator Prizes Awarded to 26 Local and Indigenous Leaders [viewed]

equator-prize-winner21 September 2014: The 2014 Equator Prize Awards Ceremony event honored 26 leaders of local and indigenous communities around the world, whose efforts to address climate change head on and innovate new solutions to issues of food security, land management and water conservation led to their selection from 1,234 global nominations. This open event, part of the Climate Week NYC, will be organized by SMEFUNDS, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) aiming to end poverty through promoting sustainable enterprise development in Africa. The event will seek to mobilize a partnership and increase awarenes on the impact of indoor pollution on women in low-income households in Africa, and will result in a call for action on the matter.
