Event: Understanding the FCPF Carbon Fund's Methodological Framework [viewed]

The World Bank's Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) Carbon Fund will host a webinar on its Methodological Framework, which was approved in December 2013 by Carbon Fund Participants as guidance for the development of large-scale REDD+ projects. The webinar, held under the theme 'REDD+ Forestry and Climate Learning' will be the first in a series of sessions on a variety of aspects related to REDD+ and the FCPF. Following a presentation, participants are invited to ask questions and engage in a discussion on topics related to the Framework.

UNFCCC Reports Efficiency Gains for 2012-2013 [viewed]

UNFCCC2 May 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report on efficiency gains made during the biennium 2012–2013 (FCCC/SBI/2014/INF.4), in advance of the 40th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 40). The document summarizes measures taken by the Secretariat to improve efficiency in a sustainable manner, describes the delivery of relevant outputs, and provides examples of specific efficiency gains, including cost savings and costs avoided.

EC Promotes Resilience of Disaster-Prone Communities [viewed]

European Union29 April 2014: The first EU Resilience Forum assessed progress made on resilience, exchanged best practices and lessons learned, and laid the foundation for further reducing vulnerabilities in risk-prone environments. Specifically, the event aimed to: serve as a catalyst for efforts to support people in areas facing repeated disasters or conflicts; prepare for, withstand and recover from stresses and shocks; and address root causes of disasters and conflicts, rather than only dealing with their consequences.

CBA8 Adopts Kathmandu Declaration on Financing Local Adaptation [viewed]

Workshop Addresses Earth Observations and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus [viewed]

Participants discussed: examples of EO contributions to WEF nexus assessments; information needs of WEF policy-makers; gaps in monitoring information and services that could be addressed by EO; and development of a synthesis report on the state of EO applications to WEF issues.
