UNFCCC Publishes Submissions on REDD+ Non-Carbon Benefits [viewed]

UNFCCC30 April 2014: The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat has published a compilation of submissions by parties on methodological issues related to non-carbon benefits (NCBs) resulting from the implementation of REDD+ activities, in advance of the 40th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 40).

Event: 37th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM XXXVII) and 17th Meeting of the Committee on Environmental Protection (CEP XVII) [viewed]

The 37th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) will convene in Brasilia, Brazil, from 28 April -7 May 2014. US Releases Third National Climate Assessment [viewed]

USA Flag6 May 2014: The US Global Change and Research Program (USGCRP) released the Third National Climate Assessment (NCA), which, to date, is the most “comprehensive, authoritative, transparent scientific report on US climate change impacts ever generated.” The report, a key deliverable of US President Barack Obama's Climate Action Plan, confirms that climate change is not a distant threat but is currently occuring and has immediate impacts, and that most of the warming over the past 50 years is due to human activities.

Zayed International Prize for the Environment Awards Announced [viewed]

zayed-prize7 May 2014: The Zayed International Prize for the Environment Award has been awarded to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco in recognition of the efforts of the Prince Albert II Foundation to spur urgent action on climate change, biodiversity protection and water security. He received the Prize at a ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 7 May 2014. At the event, two additional Zayed Prizes were awarded in each of the '2nd Category for Scientific and or Technological Achievement in Environment,' and in the '3rd Category for Environmental Action Leading to Positive Change in Society.'

ECLAC Proposes Compacts for Equality and Sustainable Development [viewed]

This event will focus on the theme 'Our Ocean'. The US Department of State will host the Conference, which will bring together individuals, experts, practitioners, advocates, lawmakers, and the international oceans and foreign policy communities to gather lessons learned, share the best science, offer unique perspectives and demonstrate effective actions.
