3 May 2009: A joint proposal has been submitted by the Federated States of Micronesia and Mauritius to amend the Montreal Protocol. The amendment proposes to regulate and phase-down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) with a high global warming potential and promote the destruction of banks of ozone-depleting substances (ODS).

addition to affecting agriculture and human health, this layer of soot and
manmade particles can both aggravate, via the absorption of sunlight, and
counteract, via the reflection of sunlight and effects on cloud formation,
climate change due to greenhouse gases.
