Andean Community Approves Project on Adapting Agriculture to Climate Change [viewed]

22 August 2011: On 22 August, the Andean Community's (CAN) chief decision-making body, the Council of Foreign Ministers, adopted a legally-binding Decision approving the execution of the German technical cooperation agency's (GIZ) project with CAN on adaptation of the agricultural sector in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru to climate change.

Event: FANRPAN Annual High Level Regional Food Security Policy Dialogue [viewed]

The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) will meet from 19-23 September 2011, and will focus on advocating for the active engagement of youth in the agriculture value chain. Event: AU-NEPAD Agriculture Climate Change Mitigation Framework Meeting [viewed]

This workshop is the first in a series of steps being undertaken by the African Union (AU) and the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) to operationalize the AU-NEPAD Agriculture Climate Change Mitigation-Adaptation Framework, which has been developed as part of the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Program (CAADP). It is expected to address: understanding the coverage and focus of key thematic and agency-specific frameworks and their linkages with the Framework; provide input and identify prioirities for the programme; identify roles and responsibilities; and explore emerging best practices.

UN Secretary-General Releases Report on Sustainable Mountain Development [viewed]

11 August 2011: The UN General Assembly (UNGA) has published a report of the UN Secretary-General that was prepared by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in response to UNGA resolution 64/205 requesting the Secretary-General to report to it at its 66th session on the status of sustainable development in mountain regions.
