Event: The International Conference on Climate Services [viewed]

The International Conference on Climate Services aims to initiate a dialogue between experienced climate information providers and those who currently use or wish to use such information. The objective of the ICCS is to ultimately establish a climate services pilot programme or network, with support from an international set of partners with experience in the implementation, design or use of climate information and services. The hope is that the conference will engender expressed commitments from conference participants. James Hansen, Leader of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) theme "Adaptation through Managing Climate Risk," will be presenting his research at the conference. The conference is being organized by the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), the Earth Institute Columbia University, the Climate Service Center (CSC), MetOffice and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).

26 September 2011: The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) has released its September 2011 newsletter, noting the opening of registration for Forest Day at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC in Durban, South Africa, on 4 December 2011. The newsletter also features articles on REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stock), forest governance and climate change.

World Bank, IMF Analyze Impact of Economic Crisis on Development [viewed]
