UNFCCC21 May 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published various summaries and the ADP Co-chairs' reflections on the first part of the second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). ADP Co-chairs highlight good progress towards a more focused mode of work and suggest that the "big picture" of the ADP work is emerging.

Event: Sixth Meeting of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC6) [viewed]

The Sixth Meeting of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC6) will take place from 26-28 June 2013, in Bonn, Germany. A thematic dialogue on research, development and demonstration will be also held. The TEC, together with the Climate Technology Centre and Network, is mandated to facilitate the effective implementation of the Technology Mechanism, under the guidance of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC.

World Bank Provides Guidance on Disaster Risk Management in East Asia and the Pacific [viewed]

World Bank3 June 2013: The World Bank has released a publication, titled 'Strong, Safe and Resilient: A Strategic Policy Guide for Disaster Risk Management in East Asia and the Pacific,' which notes that East Asia and the Pacific is the region most affected by disasters, experiencing both recurrent small-scale events as well as devastating large-scale catastrophes. The report calls on policy makers to invest in disaster preparedness to avoid undoing progress in poverty reduction and development.
