UNFCCC Releases Notification Regarding AWG-KP 11 and AGW-LCA 9 [viewed]

2 March 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released notifications to parties and observer States to the UNFCCC and its Kyoto Protocol, UN Secretariat units and bodies, specialized agencies and related oranizations regarding the 11th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 11) and the ninth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 9), which are scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany from 9-11 April 2010.

WMO Commission for Climatology Agrees on Future Strategy to Improve Climate Information and Services [viewed]

CIF Partnership Documents Posted, Comments Sought on Lessons in Climate Investment Funds [viewed]

March 2010: Documents for the 2010 Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Partnership Forum, which will gather CIF stakeholders to share lessons learned from the CIF design process and from early implementation of CIF-funded programmes, have been posted online. Also available online is a draft document titled "Looking Ahead for Lessons in the Climate Investment Funds: Emerging Themes for Learning," which is open for comments.

International Experts Address Climate Change and Related Societal Demands at WMO Conference [viewed]

25 February 2010: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), jointly with the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and the Turkish State Meteorological Service, convened a Technical Conference on Changing Climate and Demands for Climate Services for Sustainable Development from 16-18 February 2010, in Antalya, Turkey. More than 150 scientists from over 80 countries discussed the potential of current and future climate services in supporting governments, communities and businesses to cope with climate variability and change, and reduce related societal vulnerabilities. The event concluded with a special one-day joint session of the WMO's Commission for Climatology with the Joint Scientific Committee for the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).

IEA Publishes Paper on Economics of Transitioning to a Low-Carbon Power Sector [viewed]

UNECE Inland Transport Committee Highlights Measures to Address Climate Change [viewed]

25 February 2010: The 72nd annual session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Inland Transport Committee, held from 23-25 February 2010, in Geneva, Switzerland, recognized that measures including better infrastructure planning, efficient border-crossing and transit procedures, technologically progressive vehicle construction norms and a greater role for environmentally-friendly modes, such as rail and inland navigation, are necessary steps to improve current and future transportation systems, with less pollution, in the pan-European region.
