ADB, the European Investment Bank (EIB), IDB, the World Bank, the Adaptation Fund, the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the UN Environment Programme DTU Partnership (UDP) released climate finance-related publications, articles and videos. The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), CIF, GCF and the World Bank published news on climate-related events.

CDM Approves Integrated Methodology on Electrification of Communities [viewed]

UNFCCC24 July 2015: During its 85th meeting, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board approved an integrated CDM methodology for electrification of communities. The new methodology integrates approaches from existing methodologies. It broadens the coverage of small-scale methodologies for electrification and simplifies the monitoring procedures to reduce transaction costs without compromising environmental integrity.

Kenya Submits INDC [viewed]

Kenya Flag23 July 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that Kenya has formally submitted its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC), which sets out a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 30% by 2030 compared to a business-as-usual (BAU) scenario of 143 megatons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2-eq). Kenya is the 49th Party to submit its INDC.

UNISDR Spearheads Training for Local Governments on Sendai Framework for DRR [viewed]

UNISDRS24 July 2015: The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has begun training programmes for local governments, focusing on developing strategies based on action priorities outlined in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), agreed in March 2015, which emphasizes the role of local governments in achieving DRR and a reduction in the loss of lives, livelihoods and health over the next 15 years.

WMO Calls for Comments on Draft 2015 GCOS Status Report [viewed]

GCOS24 July 2015: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has announced that the draft 2015 Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Status Report, which assesses the adequacy of the global observing systems for climate, is open for public review. The report will be submitted to GCOS's sponsoring organizations, as well as Parties to the UNFCCC, who in November 2012 invited the GCOS Secretariat to prepare such an assessment.

UNECE Calls for Comments on Draft CCS Specifications [viewed]

UNECE8 July 2015: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has announced that a draft document, titled 'Specifications for the Application of the UN Framework Classification for Fossil Energy and Mineral Reserves and Resources 2009 (UNFC-2009) to Injection Projects for the Purpose of Geological Storage,' is open for public review. UNECE describes storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) as the "initial and main focus" of the specifications, although they potentially could be applied to other projects, such as storing natural gas.

ADP Co-Chairs Issue Streamlined Geneva Negotiating Text [viewed]

UNFCCC24 July 2015: The Co-Chairs of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) have issued a scenario note for the tenth part of the second session of ADP (ADP 2-10) that includes a consolidated version of the formal Geneva negotiating text. The Co-Chairs also released a document containing elements for a draft decision on ADP workstream 2 (pre-2020 ambition).
