ADP 2-8 Opens in Geneva [viewed]

UNFCCC8 February 2015: The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) has begun the eighth part of its second session (ADP 2-8) in Geneva, Switzerland, and will continue meeting until 13 February. The conference is the first of several meetings to be held in 2015 under the UNFCCC in preparation for the Paris Climate Change Conference in December 2015. The Paris Conference is mandated to adopt “a protocol, another legal instrument or an agreed outcome with legal force under the Convention applicable to all Parties” that is expected to be implemented in 2020.

EC Proposes Elements for Global Partnership [viewed]

EU-SE4ALL5 February 2015: The European Commission (EC) published a Communication identifying overarching principles and key components of a global partnership to support the post-2015 development agenda, to inform EU positions ahead of the Third Financing for Development (FfD3) Conference and the Post-2015 Summit, and to contribute to the preparation of the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

WMO: 2014 Hottest Year on Record, Warming Trend Continues [viewed]

WMO2 February 2015: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has ranked 2014 as the hottest year on record, noting this is part of a continuing trend. After consolidating a number of international datasets, the WMO's analysis emphasizes that the difference in temperature between the warmest years is only a few hundredths of a degree, within the error margin of global temperature measurements.

UNFCCC Releases Lima Climate Change Conference Reports [viewed]

UNFCCC2 February 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published reports of the Lima Climate Change Conference, held in December 2014. The reports include the proceedings of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UNFCCC (FCCC/CP/2014/10) and cover action taken by the COP in three addenda. The proceedings (FCCC/KP/CMP/2014/9) of the 10th session of the COP serving as the Meeting of the Parties (CMP 10) to the Kyoto Protocol (FCCC/KP/CMP/2014/9) have also been published, with action taken by CMP 10 included in an addendum.

Brazil, Japan Organize Informal Meeting on Further Climate Actions [viewed]

FAO, Malawi to Protect Farmers from Severe Flooding [viewed]

fao-malawi28 January 2015: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) is working with the Government of Malawi on a US$16 million plan to protect farmers from severe flooding, which has destroyed fields and homes, washed away animals and crops, and is threatening food security in the affected areas, including with disease outbreaks that could affect surviving livestock.
