Event: Global Warming Potentials and Other Metrics Climate System Feedbacks [viewed]

This conference is organized by the Royal Irish Academy and the Irish Environmental Protection Agency, to mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of John Tyndall's breakthrough experimental work on the absorption of infrared radiation by various atmospheric gases. The conference topics include: greenhouse warming potentials and other metrics for comparison of radiatively active substances; and current science on climate feedbacks.

Event: IPCC 34th Session [viewed]

The 34th session of the IPCC will be held back to back with the first joint Sessions of IPCC Working Groups I and II to approve and accept the IPCC Special Report on “Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation.” The session will also continue consideration of the IPCC review, among other matters.

IEA Releases Report on Efficient Heating and Cooling Technologies [viewed]

16 May 2011: The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released the newest in its IEA Technology Roadmap series. “Energy-efficient Buildings: Heating and Cooling Equipment” discusses the current status of heating and cooling technologies and indicates that these technologies have the potential to reduce carbon emissions by up to two gigatons and to save 710 million tons of oil equivalent of energy by 2050.
