Event: 33rd Session of IFAD's Governing Council [viewed]

The 33rd session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will include a high level panel on: "From summit resolutions to farmers' field: climate change, food security and smallholder agriculture." The panel will discuss how to transform summit declarations into reality. Side events will focus on managing water resources in the context of climate change, natural resource management in sub-Saharan Africa, IFAD's Rural Poverty Report 2010, and smallholder farming in Asia and Latin America.

CBD Practical Guide on Protected Areas Stresses Their Mitigation and Adaptation Potential [viewed]

1 February 2010: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has released a practical guide titled “Making Protected Areas Relevant: A Guide to Integrating Protected Areas into Wider Landscapes, Seascapes and Sectoral Plans and Strategies.” Such integration is considered to be imperative in order to address the adverse impacts of climate change.

Event: IPCC WGII Co-Sponsored Meeting: NRC Meeting on Socioeconomic Storylines for New Scenarios to Support WGII/WGIII AR5 and Other Assessments [viewed]

This meeting is co-sponsored by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group (WG) II, which deals with climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability, and the US National Research Council.
