IEA RETDMarch 2014: The International Energy Agency's Renewable Energy Technology Deployment (IEA-RETD) Implementing Agreement has released a position paper on the energy architecture that will be required to deliver and sustain a world with a very high penetration of renewables. The paper, commissioned by IEA-RETD in 2011, summarizes key findings from discussions among five energy experts on the architectural challenges and opportunities of a high renewable energy world in 2050.

IRP, UN-REDD Report Highlights Role of REDD+ in the Green Economy [viewed]

UNEP20 March 2014: The International Resource Panel (IRP) and the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation (UN-REDD) have released a report on the role of REDD+ in transitioning to a green economy. The report, titled 'Building National Capital - How REDD+ can support a Green Economy,' highlights the urgent need for US$30 billion in funding to ensure REDD+ implementation and to contribute to green economy transformations, noting that this is less than 7 percent of annual fossil fuel subsidies.

JI Supervisory Committee Adopts Business, Management and Work Plans [viewed]

UNFCCC18 March 2014: The Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) has adopted its business plan and management plan (MAP) for 2014-2015, which set out, respectively, the JI's strategic direction for 2014 and 2015, and the work, capacity needs and estimated resource requirements necessary to implement the business plan. It also approved its 2014 workplan, which provides information on the work planned for each meeting of the JISC in 2014.

UNFCCC Releases ADP Submissions from LDCs, AILAC and New Zealand [viewed]

UNFCCC17 March 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the submissions from Nepal, on behalf of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), New Zealand, and the Independent Association of Latin America and the Caribbean (AILAC), to the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP). The submissions will inform the work of the ADP at its June session and going forward toward a 2015 climate agreement.
