Event: REDD+ Partnership Meeting [viewed]

The REDD+ Partnership Meeting will discuss issues related to the development and use of the REDD+ database, gap analysis and financing, effectiveness of multilateral initiatives, and organizational issues. The group will also discuss priorities for the second semester of 2011 and will receive updates on recent REDD+ events and initiatives. The meeting will be followed up by a REDD+ Partnership Workshop on 18 June 2011.

UNFCCC Publishes Newsletter Ahead of Bonn Session [viewed]

31 May 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a new edition of its Newsletter in the run-up to the June 2011 UN Climate Change Conference, which will take place from 6-17 June 2011, in Bonn, Germany. The newsletter highlights the proceedings of the first meeting of the Transitional Committee for the design of the Green Climate Fund, among other topics.

BASIC Ministers Discuss Preparations for Durban [viewed]

29 May 2011: The seventh BASIC Ministerial Meeting on Climate Change took place in Zimbali, South Africa, from 28-29 May 2011, and was attended by ministers from South Africa, China, Brazil, India, China, and Argentina as chair of the G77, as well as the incoming Climate Change Conference President Maite Nkoana-Mashabane. Ministers discussed the work required to achieve a comprehensive and balanced outcome at the Durban Climate Change Conference in December 2011 to complete the mandate of the Bali Road Map.

IEA and UNFCCC Executive Secretary Warn Against Risk of Failing to Reach the 2º Target [viewed]

World Bank Supports Improved Capacity in Hydropower Plant in Indonesia [viewed]

27 May 2011: The World Bank approved a US$640 million loan to build a pumped storage system in Indonesia's Upper Cisokan Pumped Storage Hydropower project, to allow the power plant to supply electricity in peak season.
