Event: Multilateral Treaty Framework: An invitation to universal participation [viewed]

This event will take place from 21–23 and 27–28 September 2010. This treaty event will coincide with the general debate of the 65th session of the General Assembly. It provides an opportunity for States to demonstrate their continuing commitment to the central role of the rule of law in international relations. This year's event will highlight treaties of global reach such as human rights, terrorism, penal matters, disarmament, climate change and the protection of UN personnel. In particular, this year will highlight a theme that celebrates and safeguards life on Earth, \"Biodiversity.\" 2010 marks the International Year of Biodiversity; it also marks the start of the UN Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification, another global issue requiring a global response.

Event: Oslo Climate and Forest Conference [viewed]

This conference will seek to establish an interim partnership arrangement for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries conservation, sustainable forest management and enhancement of forest carbon stocks (REDD+).
