OECD's Copenhagen Green Growth Study Recommends "Radical" Green Innovation [viewed]

OECDDecember 2012: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published an analysis of Greater Copenhagen, Denmark, on measuring the potential of local green growth. The analysis makes ten recommendations aimed at stimulating green innovation and competitiveness, and financing innovation and developing “knowledge intensive green activities.”

Countries eligible to participate in this ECW include Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Ramsar Announces Mangrove Rehabilitation Project in the Marshall Islands [viewed]

16 January 2013: The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention) has reported on an upcoming mangrove rehabilitation and replanting project in two of the Marshall Islands' wetlands of international importance, Namdrik and Jaluit Atolls.

World Bank Project to Build Resilience to Climate-related Hazards in Nepal [viewed]

UNDP Releases NCF Discussion Paper and Asia-Pacific Case Studies [viewed]

15 January 2013: The UN Development Programme's (UNDP) Asia-Pacific office has published a discussion paper, titled “National Climate Funds: Learning from the Experience of Asia-Pacific countries.” The paper was released together with seven case studies examining national climate funds (NCFs), mechanisms to direct finance towards climate change projects and programmes in Bhutan, Laos People's Democratic Republic, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Micronesia and Tuvalu.

FCPF Reports on Challenges, Achievements from 2012 [viewed]

17 January 2013: The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), administered by the World Bank, has released its 2012 Annual Report. The report highlights progress during the facility's fourth year of implementation with regard to REDD+ readiness, funding for REDD+ and partnership building. This Global Environment Facility (GEF) Expanded Constituency Workshop (ECW) in Cambodia brings together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Agencies. Building on the success of the first two years of ECWs in 2011 and 2012, the third session will further strengthen participants knowledge of GEF-5 strategies, programs, policies and procedures. Countries involved in this workshop include: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

Fifth International Renewable Energy Conference (IREC) Hosts High-Level Discussions on Innovation and Finance [viewed]

17 January 2013: The Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Conference (ADIREC) convened government, business, and civil society representatives from more than 150 countries to discuss the future of innovation and finance for renewable energy. The conference was hosted by the Sixth World Future Energy Summit (WFES) from 15-17 January, 2013, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
