Event: Bonn 2011 Conference: The Water Energy and Food Security Nexus – Solutions for the Green Economy [viewed]

The theme for this conference is "The Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus: Solutions for the Green Economy." This high-level, invitation-only conference is organized by the German Federal Government in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). It will seek to contribute to the run-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), scheduled for June 2012. Event: GEF Central Africa Constituency Workshop [viewed]

The GEF Central Africa Region Expanded Constituency Workshop (ECW) will bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from GEF agencies. The purpose of the meeting is to keep these stakeholders abreast of GEF strategies, policies and procedures and to encourage coordination. The ECW will include participants from Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe.

4 February 2011: The ninth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF 9), which focused on the theme “Forests for people, livelihoods and poverty eradication,” convened from 24 January-4 February 2011, at UN Headquarters in New York, US, and brought together over 700 participants to address: the International Year of Forests (Forests 2011); forests for people, livelihoods and poverty eradication; and means of implementation for sustainable forest management (SFM).
