The UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Climate Neutral Network (CN Net)
announced that two Norwegian music festivals have joined the international
fight against climate change. The two festivals are the first music events to
sign on to CNNet, which aims to federate solutions and actions to realize a
low, even zero pollution, world.

of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ministerial Meeting, which took place from

and Technology (CST) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has
selected the ‘Drylands Science for Development' consortium as its partner to

reconvened, on Monday, 21 July, to conclude the plenary meeting on the global
food and energy crisis that began on 18 July 2008. A number of countries,
including Cape Verde and Syria, stressed the interlinkages between the food,
energy and climate challenges.

experts from 28 nations are gathering at the eighth INTECOL International
Wetlands Conference, which is taking place from 20-25 July 2008, in Cuiaba,
Brazil, to agree on measures to better manage and slow the decline of wetlands
that are among the planet's most threatened ecosystems.

Technical Paper is the sixth paper in the IPCC Technical Paper series and was
produced in response to a proposal by the Secretariat of the World Climate
Programme – Water and the International Steering Committee of the Dialogue on
Water and Climate at the 19th Plenary Session of the IPCC, which took place in
Geneva, Switzerland in April 2002.

The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) continued the General Segment of
its Substantive Session with a panel discussion on “An inclusive and coherent approach to climate
change: The role of the UN system,” which was chaired by Jean-Marc Hoscheit (Luxembourg), Vice-President of
the Council. Noting the urgency of addressing the threat of climate change and
the need for system-wide action, he explained that the ECOSOC's discussion was
centered on how the UN is coordinating its response to
the post-Bali road map of negotiations.
