Event: Scoping Meeting for the IPCC AR5 Synthesis Report [viewed]

The intent of this meeting is to scope out the contents of the Synthesis Report for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report (AR5). The scoping of the Synthesis Report for the AR5 was first considered in Venice, Italy, at the AR5 Scoping Meeting, held from 13-17 July 2009. It recommended that the Synthesis Report be organized around four major topic areas: Observed Changes and their Causes; Future Changes (in the short and long-term); Response; and Transitions and Transformation. Please note that attendance at the scoping meeting is by invitation only.

Event: 11th Meeting of the Adaptation Fund Board [viewed]

The 11th meeting of the Adaptation Fund Board will take place on 16-17 September 2010. Back-to-back with the Board's meeting, the Project and Programme Review Committee and the Ethics and Finance Committee will hold closed meetings on 15 September 2010. The meetings will take place at the Langer Eugen UN Campus in Bonn, Germany.

Event: International Scientific Conference on Advanced Scientific Tools for Desertification Policy [viewed]

This conference is co-organized by the Global Mechanism (GM), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). It aims to “set up a discussion on the scientific research tools and results, recently achieved at the European and international levels addressing desertification assessment and mitigation.”

Event: AWG-KP 14 and AWG-LCA 12 [viewed]

The 14th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 14) and the 12th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 12) will take place at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center (MJCEC). The sessions will be preceded by preparatory meetings of the Group of 77 and China, the African Group, the small islands developing States (SIDS) and the least developed countries (LDCs) from 28 September-3 October 2010.

Ramsar Co-Organizes Workshop on Climate Adaptation in Murray-Darling Basin [viewed]

29 July 2010: Max Finlayson, wetlands and climate change expert member of Ramsar's Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP), and Brendan Edgar, Australia's National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility, co-organized a workshop to review options for coping with adapting to a changing climate in the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB), south-east Australia's major river catchment.
