19 May 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has posted the negotiating text prepared by the Chair of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) to facilitate the negotiations among parties on the fulfillment of the Bali Action Plan towards the agreed outcome to be adopted at the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009.

15 May 2009: The final decision adopted by the 17th session of the Commission on Sustainable Development, which convened from 4-15 May 2009 at UN Headquarters in New York, NY, recognizes that agriculture is dependent on climate and sensitive to climate change, and that sustainable agricultural practices as well as sustainable forest management can contribute to meeting climate change concerns.
15 May 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released two documents prepared by the Chair of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP) to be discussed at its eighth session, scheduled to take place in Bonn, Germany, from 1-12 June 2009.
14 May 2009: Speaking at the launch of the report “The Environmental Food Crisis: The Environment's Role in Averting Future Food Crises,” UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Executive Director Achim Steiner stated that reversing environmental degradation and investing in ecological infrastructure such as forests, soils and water bodies is part of the Green Economy solution.
