UN Greening the Blue Announces UN Headquarters Now Powered by Renewable Energy [viewed]

16 May 2012: Greening the Blue has announced that the UN Headquarters building in New York, the US, is to be powered by renewable energy. The UN has purchased Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), a tradable certificate issued when electricity is generated and delivered to the grid from a qualifying renewable energy source.

UN Independent Experts Call for a Global Financial Transaction Tax [viewed]

14 May 2012: A group of UN independent experts has called on the Group of Eight Industrialized Nations (G8) and EU countries to support a proposal for a global financial transaction tax (FTT). New Clean Energy Initiatives and Commitments Announced at CEM3 [viewed]

26 April 2012: Leaders from the governments of the 23 Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) participant countries, together with the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) initiative, have announced a variety of new commitments and initiatives to improve energy efficiency, increase the share of renewable energy, and enable energy access worldwide. These commitments and initiatives are the main outcomes of the two-day Third Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM3).
