Secretary-General Issues Annual Report on UN's Work [viewed]

Geospatial Information Management Meeting Adopts Addis Ababa Declaration [viewed]

11 August 2011: The African Regional Preparatory meeting on Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM) met from 8-10 August 2011, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to establish a plan of action for African participation in GGIM initiative ahead of the High-Level Forum on GGIM to be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 24-26 October 2011. The meeting culminated with the adoption of the Addis Ababa Declaration on Geospatial Information Management in Africa.

Event: Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo [viewed]

The Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo will focus on reforming Nigerian power and is taking place via a partnership with Nigerian's Energy Commission, Renewable energy programme of the Ministry of Environment, Presidential Action Committee on Power (PACP), as well as REEEP, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Global Compact, the UNFCCC Secretariat, and others. The event will bring together renewable energy power professionals, government and civil society representatives, as well as over 200 exhibiting companies from all over the world. It aims to: create a platform for all stakeholders to network and transfer knowledge and skills; raise awareness and educate the public about climate change in Nigeria and the world; showcase both local and international initiatives and technologies that are at the forefront of renewable energy and climate change resilience; mobilize Nigerians across all sectors to act on climate change in all aspects of their lives; and create a platform for business, government and NGOs to showcase alternative energy solutions and climate change initiatives and technologies.

ECOSOC Establishes Committee on Global Geospatial Information Management [viewed]
