World Youth Report 2011 Indicates Youth Interest in Green Jobs [viewed]

6 February 2012: The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) has released the 2011 World Youth Report. The Report centers on the contributions from people aged 15-30, through an online consultation process regarding youth employment. Discussions revealed concern that educational systems are not preparing youth to compete for jobs, as well as young people's interest in climate change, social equity, and innovation in green technologies and communications.

UN Commission for Social Development Focuses on Poverty Reduction [viewed]

UN logo1 February 2012: The 50th session of the UN Commission for Social Development (CSocD) has opened at UN Headquarters. The session will focus on poverty eradication, youth unemployment and socially-inclusive policies, taking into account the global economic crisis and climate change. Opening statements from UN officials highlighted the importance of social development for sustainable development and the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
