UN Launches Guidelines for Eco-efficient and Socially Inclusive Cities [viewed]

October 2011: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), in partnership with the Urban Design Lab of the Earth Institute, Columbia University, have jointly released the "Guidelines for developing eco-efficient and socially inclusive infrastructure," which provide practical tools for city planners and decision makers to reform urban planning and infrastructure design according to the principles of eco-efficiency and social inclusiveness.

Asia and the Pacific Meeting Addresses Sustainable Energy Development [viewed]

29 September 2011: The Expert Group Meeting on Sustainable Energy Development in Asia and the Pacific reviewed energy security challenges facing the region and outlined a regional agenda on the issue. Participants stressed the importance for countries in the region to have national policies that will ensure universal access to clean and efficient energy services to advance poverty reduction and improve health and well-being.

Event: Workshop on Developing Capacity Resilience to Water-related Disasters in Pakistan Through Space Applications and Flood Risk Management [viewed]

This workshop is jointly organized by the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the UN Country Team in Pakistan, and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan.
