ECLAC Executive Secretary Calls on the LAC Region to Contribute to Climate Change Negotiations [viewed]
20 November 2009: Speaking at the launch of a study titled "The Economics of Climate Change in Chile," Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), noted that the impact of climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean will be considerable and stressed the need for the region to contribute to negotiations in the UN Climate Change Conference scheduled to take place in Copenhagen.
3 November 2009: On the margins of the UNFCCC talks taking place in Barcelona, Spain, UN-Water presented a key message on Water and Climate Change Adaptation prepared for the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP15). 
27 October 2009: The UN General Assembly Second Committee (Economic and Financial) held an interactive dialogue with Heads of the UN Regional Commissions on 27 October 2009, on “regional perspectives on the economic impacts of climate change.”
19 October 2009: The UN Development Programme (UNDP), jointly with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), organized a two-day meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that gathered more than 60 of Latin America and the Caribbean's high-level finance and environment governmental officials, along with representatives from the private sector and international organizations, to explore options for long-term climate investments. 
5 August 2009: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) organized a meeting of the network on Sustainable Energy, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management to discuss national and sectoral climate change strategies. 
19 June 2009: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC) and the Government of Germany concluded negotiations in Berlin, Germany, on 18 June 2009, to extend their cooperation programme until 2012, including joint work in the area of “Climate Change: old and new opportunities for sustainable energy and energy efficiency.”
18 June 2009: The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is organizing an expert meeting on “The Carbon Footprint in Agro food Goods and Services: A Contribution to Combating Global Warming” in Santiago, Chile, from 18-19 June 2009.
