9 March 2011: Youba Sokona, Coordinator of the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC), underlined that the impacts of climate change on the African continent are "too severe and multi-faceted to be tackled by national institutions alone," and called for a regional strategy that brings together the common efforts and aspirations of the countries in the region.
3 March 2011: In celebrations for the ninth Africa Environment Day, the African Union (AU) Commission, in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and local partners, highlighted the importance of sustainable forest management (SFM) for sustainable development and addressing climate change.

18 November 2010: The 11th Regional Coordination Mechanism for Africa (RCM-Africa), which took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 14-15 November 2010, has concluded its deliberations on the best approaches to coordinate efforts to support the African Union (AU) and its New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) programme.

September 2010: The African Union Commission (AUC), the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) have jointly produced the 2010 report on "Assessing Progress in Africa toward the Millennium Development Goals (MGDs)."
