UNECE Releases First Review of Turkmenistan's Environmental Performance [viewed]

UNECE Releases Second Environmental Performance Review of Tajikistan [viewed]

UNECE14 December 2012: The "Second Environmental Performance Review (EPR) of Tajikistan" conducted by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) highlights that waste management and clean water and sanitation remain challenges for this country. UNECE EPRs cover ten elements including: environmental policymaking, planning and implementation; financing of environmental policies; waste and water management; biodiversity conservation; and integration of environmental issues into energy and health policies.

ECLAC Issues Guide on Carbon Footprint and Food Exports [viewed]

ACPC Report Calls on Developed Countries to Provide Climate Finance Roadmap [viewed]

4 December 2012: The African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) has launched a report on climate financing, on the sidelines of the Doha Climate Change Conference, which notes that finance commitments made at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference have not been met and calls on developed countries to provide a finance roadmap for 2013-2020 to demonstrate their intention to fulfil commitments.

Event: European Forest Week 2013 [viewed]

This week will be celebrated under the theme 'The role of forests and forest products in a Green Economy' and will focus on the contribution of forests to the green economy. The main celebrations will be centred on Metsä 2013, the joint session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) European Forestry Commission. Event: Group of Experts on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for International Transport Networks: Fifth Session [viewed]

The Fifth Session of the Group of Experts on climate change impacts and adaptation or international transport networks will convene 7 December 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland. Items on the provisional agenda include, inter alia: discussion on the Report of the Group of Experts; and Replies to the Questionnaire for collecting information on existing and potential climate change impacts on transport, as well as degree of preparedness and relevant policies for adaptation.

ESCAP Publishes Asia-Pacific Statistical Yearbook [viewed]

6 November 2012: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has published its “Statistical Yearbook for Asia and the Pacific 2012.”  The Yearbook features country profiles with selected statistical indicators, tables and charts for the 58 regional and associate members of ESCAP. It highlights Asia-Pacific gains in economic growth, poverty reduction and child survival while also noting wide development gaps, particularly in gender equality and health care.
