UNECA Organizes Workshop on Climate Change and Scientific Consequences in Africa [viewed]

17 March 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the International Council for Science-Regional Office for Africa (ICSU-ROA) organized a consultative workshop on “Climate Change and Scientific Consequences in Africa: Post-Copenhagen” from 17-19 March 2010, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The aim of the workshop was to examine the role of African scientists in addressing the climate change challenge.

UNECE Publishes Study on Financing Mitigation [viewed]

WHO European Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health Convenes [viewed]

12 March 2010: The Fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health, which was held in Parma, Italy, from 10-12 March 2010, was a carbon-neutral event organized around the theme “Protecting children's health in a changing environment.” The Conference concluded with the adoption by 53 European Governments of the Parma Declaration on Health and Environment.

Event: World Cities Summit 2010: Liveable and Sustainable Cities for the Future [viewed]

This three-day event will focus on the challenges related to urban planning, infrastructure financing, public housing, waste management, urban biodiversity and climate change. Participants will discuss how to mitigate risks and build inclusive and harmonious cities. UNECE and FAO Launch Data Collection on Europe's Forests [viewed]

12 March 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have begun collecting data on the state of forests and forest management in Europe. Data will be collected from 46 countries in the European region, and will include information on forest health and vitality, productive and protective functions, biodiversity and social and economic dimensions of forest management.

Africa Carbon Forum Hopes to Help Boost Africa [viewed]

The second Africa Carbon Forum, which was held from 3-5 March 2010, in Nairobi, Kenya, sought to help build on growing interest in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in Africa, and concluded with expectations for a boost in Africa's share of the global carbon market.
