6 September 2011: The Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum has released a consensus report for the season of September to December 2011, which predicts a possible return to normal or above normal rain conditions in southern Somalia, but a risk of below normal rains for other areas, including northern Somalia.

This three-day workshop on Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) as an adaptation tool to climate change will gather professionals of UN-Water members and partners, and is organized by the UN-Water Thematic Priority Area on Water and Climate Change and the Cap-Net network. SPREP Meteorological Meeting Recommends Increased Climate Activities [viewed]

Event: Fifteenth Southern Africa Region Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-15) [viewed]

Convened under the theme “Seasonable Climate Prediction: A Strategic Tool in Sustainable Socio-Economic Development,” the 15th Southern Africa Region Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-15) is being organized by the Southern Africa Development Community in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR) to develop a consensus climate outlook for the period from October 2011 until March 2012. SARCOF-15 is also expected to address potential climate impacts on sectors including disaster risk management, food security, and health and water resources. The last rainy season in the region will also be assessed.
