25 July 2011: The UN Development Group (UNDG) Task Team on Environmental Sustainability, Climate Change and Rio+20, in collaboration with several partners, organized a workshop for the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region to build the capacity of UN Country Teams to address the linkages among environmental sustainability, climate change and disaster risk reduction (DRR) in country programming to support national development processes, and to mainstream them into UN Development Assistance Frameworks (UNDAF).

15 July 2011: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the World Trade Institute (WTI) concluded the second session of their e-Learning course on Trade and Climate Change. The main objective of the course was to improve participants' knowledge of key legal and economic issues arising from the ongoing climate change debate.

8 July 2011: The Steering Group of the One UN Training Service Platform for Climate Change (UN CC:Learn) recently selected three countries from among the 25 countries that expressed an interest in the UN CC:Learn's Pilot Projects to Strengthen Human Resources, Learning and Skills Development to Address Climate Change, which aim to help countries take a strategic, long-term and results-oriented approach to climate change learning. The Group's decision in this regard will be released soon.

This e-learning course on Climate Change Diplomacy has been developed by the Multilateral Diplomacy Programme of the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The course aims to provide the necessary training to facilitate participation in climate change-related international negotiations, public sector work and diplomatic engagement through the provision of enhanced understanding of the science of climate change, its international policy framework, and the key negotiation issues pertinent to reaching a post-2012 agreement. The course will last for 8 weeks, from 12 September-15 November 2011.

This course is organized by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and World Trade Institute (WTI) as part of their suite of joint e-Learning courses on international trade policy and regulation. The aim of the course is to explore key legal and economic issues arising from the climate change debate, including the relationship between the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) that address climate change. It will also examine the legality under international trade rules, of domestic and international trade measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and measures designed to influence the behavior of trading partners. The course will begin on 20 June, and continue until 15 July.
