19 April 2013: The UN Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have begun implementing a new disaster risk reduction (DRR) partnership project with an inaugural training course on DRR Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
19 March 2013: The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development (MoEPD) and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Management (MoECCM) of Malawi co-organized a workshop in the framework of the national UN CC:Learn Project, to review and validate this country's National Climate Change Learning Strategy.
11 March 2013: The Dominican Republic has formally launched a Training Programme on Climate Change for Teachers that will receive technical and financial support from the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) as part of the One UN Training Service Platform on Climate Change (UN CC:Learn) Partnership.
15 February 2013: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), through its Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAP), has partnered with East Africa's Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to promote the use of geospatial technologies to improve disaster reduction in East Africa.
18 February 2013: The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), through its Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT), will cooperate to provide more comprehensive satellite imagery to Asia-Pacific countries to improve disaster risk management.
14 February 2013: The Indonesian National Council on Climate Change (DNPI) hosted a workshop on 14 February 2013, in Jakarta, to review progress on the development of a National Learning Strategy to address climate change.
19 December 2012: Participants at the Benin workshop on the National Strategy to Strengthen Human Resources and Skills to Advance Green Low Emission and Climate Resilient Development have developed a work plan for finalizing and launching the national strategy.
5 December 2012: A new partnership aiming to share knowledge and successful ideas for developing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) was launched on the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC in Doha, Qatar. The partnership will focus on: NAMAs in the context of national development; NAMA preparation for different sectors or technologies; and how to finance NAMAs.
23 November 2012: In the run up to the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) of the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and UK climate and energy consultancy Ricardo-AEA held a pilot face to face training workshop in Doha, Qatar, for climate change negotiators.
28 September 2012: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Zimbabwe held a training course for Zimbabwean government officials in preparation for the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, at the end of 2012.
