UNISDR Grants RISK Award to Beira, Mozambique [viewed]

27 August 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) has granted the first RISK Award to the flood-prone coastal city of Beira, Mozambique. The €100,000 project implementation award is the result of a collaboration between UNISDR, the Munich Re Foundation and the Global Risk Forum, Davos.

UNISDR Announces Online Dialogue for Post-2015 DRR Framework [viewed]

14 August 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) has announced that it will convene an online dialogue on a post-2015 Framework for disaster risk reduction (DRR). The dialogue will take place from 27 August - 30 November 2012, and will form the first round of a series of online consultations in the lead up to the World Conference on Disaster Reduction, scheduled to take place in 2015, in Japan.

UNISDR Highlights Impact of Mexican Drought on Indigenous Populations [viewed]

14 August 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) has highlighted the recent impact of drought on the indigenous populations of Chihuahua, Mexico. UNISDR noted that while the Mexican Early Warning System for cyclones has proven to be a powerful tool to reduce the loss of lives, there are yet no appropriate early warning systems for other extreme hydro meteorological events such as drought, hail storms and flash floods.

Event: Post-2015 Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Online Dialogues [viewed]

As part of the consultations on a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction (DRR), the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) is convening an online dialogue. UNISDR is gathering views on the future of the post-2015 framework for DRR and the results of the online dialogues will provide the substance for a post-2015 framework for DRR, expected to be agreed at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction scheduled to convene in 2015. The online dialogue will extend from 27 August to 30 November 2012.

World Bank Outlines DRR Plans in Viet Nam [viewed]
