UNISDR, UNESCO Convene Retreat on Post-Hyogo Disaster Framework [viewed]

19 November 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the UN Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) convened a two-day UN High-Level Retreat to initiate work on a UN strategic plan for disaster risk reduction. Attended by representatives from 20 UN agencies, the Retreat was held from 19-20 November, in Paris, France.

Asian Conference Calls for Integrating DRR and Climate Change Adaptation into Development [viewed]

25 October 2012: The 5th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), which was attended by 25 ministers and delegates from 72 countries, concluded with the adoption of the Yogyakarta Declaration on DRR in Asia and the Pacific 2012, which calls for integrating DRR and climate change adaptation (CCA) into local level development planning.

23 October 2012: The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) have released the ESCAP/UNISDR Asia-Pacific Disaster Report 2012, titled “Reducing Vulnerability and Exposure to Disasters.” The report was released on the sidelines of the Fifth Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

European DRR Forum Sees Release of Climate Change Adaptation Survey Results [viewed]

4 October 2012: Participants at the third annual meeting of the European Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) were presented with the results of a survey carried out by the European Working Group on Climate Change Adaptation (CCA). The Forum was co-organized by the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) Europe, the European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA), and the European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

Working Group Established to Review National Platforms on Disaster Risk Reduction [viewed]
