15 December: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has announced that the 2009 Global Forum on Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency will be hosted by the Government of Mexico in the last quarter of 2009.
10 December 2008: UN Industrial and Development Organization (UNIDO) Director-General Kandeh Yumkella has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with two Brazilian energy companies, ITAIPU Binacional and Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A. (Eletrobrás), to promote renewable energy use.

September 2008: In a contribution to the September 2008 special issue of the ISO Focus magazine, Kandeh Yumkella, Director-General of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), notes the lack of capacity of most developing countries to participate in the global trade of manufactured goods.
September 2008: The Expert Group Meeting on Advancing Industrial Energy Efficiency in the Post-2012 Framework will meet from 22-23 September 2008, in Washington, DC, US. The meeting is organized by the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
August 2008: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is organizing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment of Jordan, an “Eco-cities Forum,” which will take place from 18-20 October 2008, at the Dead Sea in Jordan. The Forum aims to promote awareness, best practices, investment opportunities and technology transfer in the environmental sector in Jordan as well as among municipalities in the Mediterranean region.

from 27-29 August, 2008, in São Paulo, Brazil.
