Climate Neutral Network Member to Offset Emissions during World Cup [viewed]

23 April 2010: The sportswear company PUMA, a member of the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Climate Neutral Network, has announced plans to offset the carbon dioxide emissions of PUMA-sponsored national football teams taking part in the Football World Cup this summer in South Africa. This includes teams from Algeria, Cameroon, Côte D'Ivoire, Ghana, Italy, Switzerland and Uruguay, and represents emissions from a total of 336 players and officials.

The green match, organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Indian Premier League, was part of the “Batting for the Environment” initiative, launched in March 2010.

Event: Geneva Trade and Biodiversity Day [viewed]

This event is co-organized by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). It will focus on the intersection between trade and biodiversity policy in the promotion of sustainable development.
