4 December 2009: Spain has become the third donor to the UN-REDD Programme, following the Governments of Norway and Denmark, by pledging €15 million to the trust fund. Yemi Katerere, Head of UN-REDD, commented that "there is a growing interest in the UN-REDD Programme by developing and developed countries and a clear recognition that reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD) cannot happen without this partnership.
