UNFCCC Shortlists Proposals for Hosting the Climate Technology Centre [viewed]

23 April 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report on the evaluation of proposals for hosting the Climate Technology Centre (CTC) (FCCC/SBI/2012/INF.4). The report presents the assessment by the evaluation panel of the proposals received in response to the call for proposals for the host of the CTC, including a ranked shortlist of three proponents that met the minimum thresholds as decided by the Conference of the Parties at its 17th session (COP 17) (decision 2/CP.17, annex VIII, paragraph 10).

UN Releases Third Annual Carbon Neutrality Report [viewed]

Event: Wadden Sea Climate Training [viewed]

This training, organized by the British Council in collaboration with UNEP/GRID-Arendal and Youth in Action, will be attended by 21 young people from 15 European countries. Participants will examine the environmental, cultural and socio-economic impacts of climate change on the Wadden Sea ecosystem, and use their experiences and acquired knowledge to encourage their peers to become environmentally responsible citizens.

18 April 2012: The fourth Africa Carbon Forum, a trade fair and knowledge-sharing event focusing on carbon investments in Africa, opened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Forum's agenda includes a review of progress on UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) procedures that benefit African countries in accessing Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects, and the future of the CDM and the climate regime.

UNEP FI Announces 2012 Climate Change Leadership Award [viewed]

UNEP FI10 April 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Finance Initiative (FI) has announced that Africa' largest insurer, Santum, has been awarded the 2012 Climate Change Leadership Award, under the financial services category. According to UNEP FI, the Award is the first of its kind in Africa to recognize businesses, communities, youth, schools and individuals who are leading the way in combating climate change.
