5 April 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has requested the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to buy 50,000 certificates of emission reduction (CERs), to cover UNEP's emissions for 2010-2013. UNOPS purchased almost 14,000 additional certificates to offset its global activities in 2011. These purchases are line with the 2007 UN directive for UN agencies to move towards climate neutrality.

7 April 2013: The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) held a Working Group meeting to set its priority areas, goals and key milestones for 2013, including actions to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs), which have been identified as one of the greatest hazards to human health.

The workshop, convened by the World Bank, the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) and the Commission des Forets d'Afrique Centrale (COMIFAC), is to take stock of the scientific work in Central Africa on the assessment of carbon stocks. 21 March 2013: The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity Business Coalition (TEEB for Business) has released a report on behavior change motivations for natural capital management (NCM), titled "Organisational Change for NCM: Strategy and Implementation." Based on data from 26 companies, the study identifies the availability of freshwater, renewable energy, climate regulation, fiber and food as the most important natural capital risks over the next 3-5 years.
