11 June 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has published a column authored by Maurice Strong, senior adviser to the Secretary-General of Rio+20, and Secretary-General of the 1992 Earth Summit, on the potential outcomes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
11 June 2012: The Frankfurt School UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Collaborating Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance has released a report titled “Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2012,” (GTR) prepared for UNEP by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
8 June 2012: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced the establishment of the Climate Technology Network and Finance Center, which aims to expand the availability of low-carbon and climate-resilient technologies in Asia and the Pacific.
6 June 2012: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released the findings of the fifth edition of the Global Environmental Outlook (GEO-5) on the eve of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). GEO-5 assessed 90 environmental goals and objectives, and found that significant progress has been made in only four.
5 June 2012: Millions of people celebrated World Environment Day (WED) around the theme, “Green Economy: Does it Include You?” highlighting the central role of communities in the transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient and socially inclusive green economy. The estimated 9,000 WED activities held worldwide included tree planting and the official launch of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) in Brazil.

4 June 2012: The UN-REDD Programme has supported the first South-South exchange on participatory governance assessments (PGA) for REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks).
31 May 2012: The Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD) recently organized workshops on water and climate change adaptation in El Salvador and Honduras. The objective of both workshops was to present and discuss tools, methodologies, issues and capacities needed to develop the integrated water resources management (IWRM), with special attention to adaptation to climate change.
